Municipal Election Lineup Continues to Grow

Posted on January 11th, 2019

The 2019 Municipal Elections continue to take shape.

Earlier this week, we told you about a group of Republicans filing for Vincennes City Races, but they weren’t alone. The Knox County Libertarian Party will also be represented this Fall, with Shane Lemler and Bruce Johnson filing. Lemler will seek to claim the District 3 seat on the Vincennes City Council, while Johnson will try to nab on of the council’s two At-Large seats. Both men announced their intent to run in the Fall of 2018.

Unlike the last Municipal Election, there will be at least one race to be decided in the primary. Democrats Eric Burke and Will Drews both filed for the District 1 Seat on the Vincennes City Council Thursday.

A pair of current Mayors also intend to run this Fall. Both Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum and Bicknell Mayor Thomas Estabrook filed to run in this year’s election. Also in Bicknell, John Vendes filed to once again run for the city’s District 4 seat on the Council and Judge Gary Byrer will see re-election as Bicknell City Judge.

Individuals interested in running in the Municipal Elections have until Monday, February 4th to file.
