Local Agencies Commit Funds for Pantheon Grant

Posted on November 20th, 2018

The Knox County Commissioners have once again committed funds to a local match for a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

At their meeting Tuesday evening, the Commissioners heard from Development Specialist Matt Sward from the Southern Indiana Development Commission. As Sward stated, the City of Vincennes would be heading up the application process for a Historic Preservation Grant from OCRA for work at the Pantheon Theatre.

In the past, the County had applied for the same grant, but failed to secure it on two occasions. As part of the grant process, a total of $54,000 is needed for a local match. With the Commissioners’ commitment last night, $21,600 will come from both the city and the county, while INVin has pledged $10,800. All of those funds are contingent on the city receiving the grant.

The Commissioners were unanimous in their approval. Sward says the grant winners will be announced on January 17th of next year.
