Locals Urged to Consider Small Business Saturday

Posted on November 16th, 2018

We’re officially less than a week away from the Thanksgiving Holiday, but many have their eye on the day after – Black Friday.

Local businesses are asking you keep the focus on shopping this Holiday season, but rather a brighter day than Friday – Small Business Saturday.

The event, which has become annual nationwide, always takes place the day after Black Friday. The idea is to transition from online shopping or the flooding of big box stores, into the local mom and pop shops that serve as the backbone of local business.

The campaign was launched in 2010 by American Express, a time when many small businesses in the United States were struggling as a result of the recession.

A number of small businesses call Knox County home, and you’re encouraged to get more bang for your buck before turning to bigger stores.
