This weekend, teams from Knox and surrounding counties will gather on the Vincennes University campus for the 7th annual Great Strides Walk. The event raises money to assist those battling cystic fibrosis.
Event Organizer Tammy Howell says Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits a person ability to breathe.
She says while the disease eventually leads to death more people are living longer through advancements in medical treatment.
Howell says this year’s fund-raising goal is $80,000. The public is welcome to attend the event, set for Sunday at the Vincennes University outdoor track. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m., with the walk getting underway at 1:30.
There will be other activities as well as refreshments.
