Knox County failed in its first attempt to secure state funding for the expansion of Broadband in the County.
Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch announced yesterday that five communities will receive funding as part of the Broadband Readiness planning Grant.
The Knox County Development Corporation, along with the towns of Oaktown, Bicknell, Decker and Wheatland had applied for one of the $50,000 planning grants that would identify ways to improve high speed internet service through out Knox County.
The five communities to receive awards were Dale, English, Greene, Marshall and Starke Counties.
Grant awards were based on location, geography, population and underserved areas.
